FTC’s Dead Blog

Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Tech-ade blog logoI’m guessing it would be a safe bet that most email marketers aren’t aware of the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) blog. That’s because the blog is about as fresh as Rush Limbaugh’s socks. It’s called Tech-ade, ‘Protecting Consumers in the Next Tech-ade‘. I know, very lame but the blog had potential. I’ve been looking over the old posts and it seems like a great place to post internet related problems and concerns with an interactive audience.

With all of that potential, the Government, as usual, is unable to see the value and drops the ball. The last post on the Tech-ade blog was on Wednesday 29 November 2006! I feel bad when a week goes by without an update, it’s a good thing I don’t work for the FTC. What’s going on, doesn’t the FTC have any internet savvy blogging geeks on the payroll?

Hey Jon Leibowitz [Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission], I hereby offer my geeky services and will fill that position of Tech-ade blog administrator. Set me up with remote access to my home office here in Michigan with a decent Government salary and we’re in business and your blog isn’t an embarrassment any more. If they let you take over the FTC blog then will you help me get on at the FDA blog?

I’m sure they have a great reason why they spend the money to keep the site up but, can’t afford to have anyone update it.

In fact they may even have an allotment for the blog that is just used for something far more important than informing the public about things going on inside the FTC.

I’ll put you on there Sheryl but you wont get you much traffic right now. It could give you a page rank boost with their Google PR of 6 but over 2.7 million on Alexa.

I think I should have a long title like:
Secretary of Federal Trade Commission Internet Relations and Blog Master
